Daniel S. Custodio is a violation to the whole conception of
chaos. His life is a study in linearity. At a young age, he had
developed a strong attraction for physics. Fascinated by physical
phenomena and electrified by the brilliance of scientific minds,
he resolved to study physics at the University of the Philippines,
Diliman. Distance and scarcity of funds failed to deter him from
moving straight to his aim. At close range, his features betray
his purpose. When he moves, his action conveys a sense of
direction. When he speaks his words are loaded and to the point.
Independent, resourceful, cerebral, his personality inspires
respect from his friends and acquaintances. Beneath the
bespectacled seriousness of his countenance lies an easy sense of
humor, a person without pretentions, a man of principles.
A man with perspective, Daniel plans to pursue higher studies in
theoretical physics with a view towards contributing a piece of
knowledge in the field of chaos. He intends to find some order in
disorder; to speculate on swirling forms, rising column of
cigarette smokes, wind tunnels, and beating wings of butterflies;
to be at home with solitons, strange attractors, and a "Gallery of
Monsters"- the fractals; and finally to solve equations by
computer simulations. To stand on the verge of turbulence requires
a sensitivity to initial conditions. It is a process of continuous
abstraction, a series of intellectual tortures which Daniel wants
to take.
